I am so thrilled to begin this new journey I’ve worked hard to create for DawnCorrespondence! I’m excited to begin focusing my attentions on weddings and events, both of which have been my true loves all along. Here I hope to provide you with inspiration for your own wedding, or just a glimpse of creativity you may be able to use in your every day life as well. I’ll also focus most of my attention on handmade ideas.

So what better way to start off than to feature my own handmade wedding? I got married this past April, and had the most beautiful handmade wedding I could have imagined! This is just the beginning of my journey down the aisle of providing you with handmade wedding bliss!

“>My husband and I knew we wanted a simple wedding, because…well…we are simple people. I wanted the simplicity of the wedding to actually be the beauty of it. We fell in love with our venue, a beautiful outdoor botanical garden amidst an amazing manor. We knew it would be perfect for a Spring wedding. I began building the whole theme of the wedding around this garden location. Everything from the teal, springy dresses to the adorable cake topper the lovely Seapinks created for us.

Another thing I really wanted our big day to showcase was our personalities. I wore fanciful shoes for the ceremony and changed into adorable peacock flats for the reception. Obviously, peacocks and gardens don’t necessarily go together (or maybe they do?), but did I care? No, not really. Our friends and family know I am a shoe lover so they would expect nothing less of me!

Both of us were really excited about our honeymoon we had planned after our wedding. We both love to travel and both speak Spanish (somewhat) so we spent 2 weeks in Madrid. It was important to us that we include this in our wedding decor because it was a huge part of our personality. And that’s what the special day is all about, right?

I could continue telling you how perfect my wedding day was, but I’m going to let you read the remainder of our handmade decor store on Etsy, and tell you something more important.

What I Learned from Our Wedding

1. In the end, you’ll be married – and that’s the most important thing.
2. Cake is wrong? Flowers didn’t show up on time? Maid of honor is sick? No one else attending the wedding knows that unless you tell them.
3. This is one of the only days in your life that is all about you and the person you love. Embrace it, and don’t get overly concerned with it being “perfect.”
4. Don’t drink too much – this is a day you’ll want to remember forever.
5. I am still on Cloud 9 and hopelessly in love with my wonderful husband, even if one or two things may have gone different than we expected.
